BFA in Studio Art, Graphic Design emphasis

As a designer, I have found that my passion comes from bringing other people’s ideas to life. From a young age, I knew that I had a love for problem-solving and finding solutions. When a client approaches me with an idea for a logo, poster, or whatever they might be needing, I find so much joy from communicating back and forth with them and bringing their vision to reality. My process typically begins with sketches and research about what a client is looking for. From there, the design begins, and the back and forth bouncing of ideas and edits ensues with it. I have come to love being critiqued. College gave me a pretty thick skin when it comes to receiving feedback, and as frustrating as it can be sometimes, it’s that honest communication between designer and client that helps produce the best work possible.

Xpedition: An Astronomical Adventure

About the Project
The goal of my project was to create the branding for an original video game I created. Xpedition is, in theory, a homage to all the aspects of video games that I loved growing up and love today. The design within the game is meant to be surreal, yet intriguing. Exploration in games can offer the player a huge variety of events and fights among other things. Xpedition, however, is intended to serve as an escape for the player.

I wanted to create words with all sorts of life and meet and places to explore, while not being overly complex and difficult. It is supposed to be a relaxing and rewarding experience. I decided to use 8-bit graphic because I love the artistic style and it also serves as a tribute to the games I played growing up. The style is also time-tested and holds up for years. The various materials created with the games branding are used to highlight some of the games key features while also promoting the game itself. Since this is a new game, I wanted to market some of the key features and beauty found in the game through posters, clothing, drink coasters, and custom gaming accessories.
