BFA in Studio Art, Graphic Design emphasis

Colin Ney is from Elkton, Michigan. They came to be in the graphic design program by chance, as their original goal was to go into illustration. Once they got into Graphics, however, the game was changed forever. Graphic design to Colin is a way to use their love of order and precision to its fullest potential while creating functional pieces of art for the world to see. Inspired by many of the design world's greatest minds Colin strives to harness color, contrast, and clarity in their design work. In their personal life, Colin likes to interact with their community to broaden their horizons of understanding and design.

So Mote It Be

About the Project
The goal of ‘So Mote It Be’ is to recontextualize how individuals view and participate in Pagan religion and tradition. Through the medium of e-commerce, we can take an area where pagan traditions were being appropriated for common use and allow those individuals to learn about the objects they are using. By using a rustic-modern style, ‘So Mote It Be’ provides information on the illustrations that appear on its products. Customers can learn this information as they browse wares. By playing into an area that is causing the most issues for a group of people, we can provide a way of educating and ensuring that those outside of the tradition are learning about the things they are purchasing.
